Comp = freebie (free rooms, meals, drinks, shows, airfare, etc.) casinos give gamblers. DI = Desert Inn Rd. Glitter Gulch = Downtown area around Fremont St where casinos attracted attention with many neon and electric signs. High Roller = Person who gambles more than ten thousand dollars in a couple of days. IP = Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino. Juice = influence, power, knowing the right people. Naked City = The immediate area behind the Stratosphere, now called Meadows Village, where the Strip dancers used to sunbathe naked during the 60s. Pit = Casino employee area behind the table games. RJ = The Las Vegas Review Journal, the daily newspaper. Six-week cure = Divorce (after the Nevada law requiring only six weeks residency to get a divorce). Spaghetti Bowl = The downtown area where highways 15, 93, and 95 meet. TI = Treasure Island Hotel & Casino. Toke = gratuity, tip. Whale = Person who gambles very large amounts of money (much, much more than a high roller) |
