Airports
There are five airports in and close to Las Vegas. McCarran International Airport, the fifth busiest airport in the US and the 12th busiest in the world, averages 800 flights daily. Named after Senator Pat McCarran, it employs 10,000 people, and is located one mile from the Strip and six miles from downtown at 5757 Wayne Newton Blvd (261-5743). It can be accessed from Paradise Rd, Russell St, and Highway 215. It has two major terminals: Terminal 1 (Main) and Terminal 2 (Charter). Terminal 3 is under construction. Hughes Executive Terminal and Grand Canyon Terminal can be accessed from Tropicana Ave or Koval St. Signature Flight Support is used for private planes and can be accessed from Las Vegas Blvd. The McCarran airport hosts a free museum depicting the history of aviation in Las Vegas. Open 24 hours. North Las Vegas Airport, located at 2730 N Rancho Dr (261-3800), is the second busiest airport in Nevada. It is used for corporate jets and for Grand Canyon tours. Henderson Executive Airport, 1400 Executive Airport Dr (261-4800), is used by two Grand Canyon tour companies and for private planes. Boulder City Municipal Airport, 1401 Airport Rd (293-9405), is used for private planes and Grand Canyon tours. Jean Sport Aviation Center, 23600 Las Vegas Blvd (261-4800), is located 30 miles south of Las Vegas. It is used for skydiving and gliding. |
